The founder of Old Town Timber, Austin Weeks, is among those artists and has been collecting wood from his father’s construction sites since his childhood. Now, he and his team are constantly on the look-out for wood to add to the collection. Every piece from Old Town Timber is made from 100% recycled wood. Then it is reclaimed into functional artwork, designed to last a lifetime. Every piece is one-of-a-kind and tells an individual story.
Gunner Hughes is a photographer on the run. Maryland-born with a hiatus in New York City, he is now based in North Florida when he’s not on the road. A graduate of Flagler College in St. Augustine, Hughes has expanded his interests to reclaiming fallen trees for use in furniture-making and architectural features at Old Town Timber. It was his attraction to image and texture that led to the creation of wood relief art prints. From preparation of the wood, to finding techniques to enhance the grain for optimum printing surfaces, to the execution of prints, Gunner’s sensitivity to the craft results in the capture of nature on paper.
